American actor Jon Heder has been tapped as the face of beauty brand Fel Beauty's latest campaign, promoting its new Kissylips Comfy Hydrating Therapy Lip Mask.
The campaign draws heavily on nostalgia, with Heder revisiting his experience filming the 2004 cult comedy Napoleon Dynamite. In the campaign, the actor recalls dealing with painfully dry lips while working on the film, joking that his lips “hurt real bad” during filming.
The humorous storyline then introduces Fel Beauty's new lip mask as a modern solution for dry and uncomfortable lips. By connecting the product to one of Heder's best-known roles, the campaign combines beauty marketing with a memorable piece of early-2000s pop culture.
Heder's involvement gives the campaign a strong nostalgic element, allowing Fel Beauty to connect its product launch with audiences who remember Napoleon Dynamite and its enduring place in popular culture. The campaign uses humour and a familiar face to present the lip treatment in a playful and unconventional way.
A spokesperson for Fel Beauty explained the thinking behind the campaign, commenting: “Our desire here was really just to create a brand rooted in all of this nostalgia and emotional connections to people and moments and unforgettable memories.”
By bringing Heder back to a character and film that remain closely associated with his career, Fel Beauty positions the Kissylips campaign around familiarity, humour and nostalgia while introducing its latest skincare product to a new audience.
