Harrison Ford: Biography

Harrison Ford is an American actor whose career spans more than five decades. He is best known for playing Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise and archaeologist Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones series. He has also appeared in films including Blade Runner, Witness, Air Force One and The Fugitive.

Early Life

Harrison Ford was born on 13 July 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Maine East High School and later studied at Ripon College in Wisconsin.

Ford initially pursued acting while working various jobs to support himself. He eventually moved to California and began taking on small film and television roles.

Breakthrough with Star Wars

Ford’s career changed dramatically when he was cast as Han Solo in George Lucas’s Star Wars. The original film was released in 1977 and became a worldwide phenomenon.

Ford returned as Han Solo in subsequent Star Wars films, becoming one of the franchise’s most recognisable characters.

Indiana Jones

In 1981, Ford played archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The film was a major success and launched another hugely popular film franchise.

Ford returned as Indiana Jones in several sequels, including Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
