American actor Dwayne Johnson has been unveiled as the latest celebrity guest to appear on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, reading Rock and Roll by Ruby Amy Thompson.
The appearance sees Johnson take on the role of bedtime storyteller, introducing young viewers to a tale centred on friendship, individuality and learning from the people around us. The programme regularly invites well-known personalities to read children's stories as part of its evening programming.
Johnson, widely recognised for his roles in films including Moana, Jumanji and Black Adam, brings his familiar voice and larger-than-life screen presence to the CBeebies series. His appearance also adds an international Hollywood name to the programme's long-running line-up of celebrity storytellers.
Speaking about the story and its message, Johnson said: “It doesn't matter what you look like, what matters is how you and your friends can come together, teach each other different things, and make each other better people.”
The message fits closely with the themes explored in Rock and Roll, using the story to encourage children to look beyond appearances and appreciate the different qualities that friends can bring to a relationship. Johnson's reading provides a gentle way of reinforcing ideas around friendship, acceptance and learning from others.
Johnson's appearance continues the tradition of CBeebies Bedtime Stories bringing familiar faces from entertainment, sport and other public life to children's television. For younger viewers, the programme combines storytelling with positive messages, creating a calm and engaging way to end the day.
