Matt Damon is an American actor, screenwriter and producer regarded as one of Hollywood's most respected performers. Born on 8 October 1970 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he developed an interest in acting while growing up alongside his lifelong friend and collaborator Ben Affleck.
Damon achieved international fame after co-writing and starring in Good Will Hunting (1997). The screenplay earned Damon and Affleck the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, launching both men into the forefront of Hollywood.
Over the following decades, Damon starred in numerous acclaimed films including the Bourne series, Saving Private Ryan, The Martian, Ford v Ferrari, The Departed, Oppenheimer and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
