Chinese mobile brand Huawei has signed up Scarlett Johansson and Batman v Superman star Henry Cavill to feature in an ad campaign.
Huawei’s advertising campaign focuses on the multiple ‘dual’ aspects of its phone, with Cavill representing the monochrome sensor, and Johansson representing the colour camera.
The mobile brand screened a teaser (see below) of the ad creative, which was put together by Havas London.
Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group, comments, “Consumers around the world use their smartphones to take billions of pictures each year, making photography critical to user experience. P9 users can now capture images with unmatched clarity, richness and authenticity, with a masterfully designed and powerful smartphone that looks and feels incredible.”
One way that Huawei is trying to build equity is through sports sponsorships and celebrity endorsements. The company has tie-ups with football clubs including América, Santa Fe, Sporting Cristal, Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and AC Milan, and players including Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sánchez. It also signed Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi as a celebrity ambassador last year.
