Steve Cram was one of Britain’s best-known middle distance runners and enjoyed great success along with Seb Coe and Steve Ovett in the 80’s. His successes included a World Championships Gold medal for the1500 metres in 1983; at the European Championships a Gold medal for the 1500m in 1982 and 1986 and a Bronze medal for the 800m in1986; and at the Olympic Games a Silver medal in 1984 for the 1500m. He was a member of the British Olympic Squad in both 1980 and 1988 and is a World Mile Record holder as well as a former World Record holder for the1500m and 2000m. After his retirement Steve went on to be an athletics presenter and commentator for BBC TV as well as a regular contributor to BBC Radio 5 Live. Steve has also made his mark as a much sought-after motivational speaker and sports consultant. As well as fulfilling his commitments on TV and taking on regular speaking engagements Steve still finds time to be Chairman of the English Institute of Sport; a Member of the Lottery Awards Panel for the Sports Council and President of the London and Southern England Branch Sunderland AFC Supporters' Association.
