In 1983 Steffi Graf became the 2nd youngest player to receive a ranking at age 13 years and 4 months old, that same year she won her first professional match. Over the next fifteen years she became the second most successful women’s player of all time with an amazing 21 grand slam titles and 89 championship victories. A great Wimbledon favourite, Steffi often saved her best and most dominating performances for the English grass, winning an incredible 7 singles titles there. Steffi won her first Grand slam in 1987 by beating the previously supreme Martina Navratilova at the French Open, this victory signalled the start of an era in Women’s Tennis where power rules; typified by her successors like Serena and Venus Williams. With Andre Agassi she has formed one of sports true celebrity couples and now makes a gorgeous and interesting sports guest at any event.
