After Dinner Speakers: Simon Weston, Eartha Kitt, George Foreman

Simon Weston joined the Welsh Guards in 1978, and set off for the 1982 Falklands War, where he tragically suffered 46% burns following the bombing of the Sir Galahad. Despite this, Simon has become an inspiration of courage and determination to others the world over. Following his ghastly injuries, Simon became active in a number of highly successful ventures including The Weston Spirit – a Liverpool-based young people’s charity, and he remains a tireless worker for the British legion and Garter Home. He was awarded an OBE in the 1992 Queens Birthday Honours and has made numerous television appearances including the BBC Simon’s War, Simon’s Peace, Simon’s Triumph and Simon’s Return. He has also written an autobiography and more recently a fictional book. Simon is a motivational speaker who draws on his positive mental attitude to succeed in life. It is a truly humbling experience to hear his courageous stories.
