Petula Clarke has been a star for over 50 years. She was originally a child singer on Radio just after the war, before becoming a popular child movie actress in many British films. She was the British version of Shirley Temple. In later life she has had many hit records, particularly "Downtown", which was a hit in many countries, including the USA, and which she recorded in several languages. Petula met and married a French lyrist/musician and now lives in Paris with her husband and children.
