After Dinner Speakers: Mike Reid, Valery Giscard D'Estaing, John Motson
Mike Reid was born in Hackney and first his first experience as an entertainer by winning a Butlins talent contest for his singing and stand up comedy.
Always a popular theatre performer, Mike has had periodic television susses and a significant music career, he is well remembered for his characteristically gruff cockney rendition of the children’s song, The Ugly Duckling.
More recently, Mike achieved notoriety as Frank Butcher in East Enders, a role he maintained for 7 years until he left citing depressing story lines as his reason for departure.
An immediately identifiably personality, Mike Reid will always be one of Britains favourite actors and variety performers.
