Dr Mike Stroud is best known for his record breaking expeditions with Sir Ranulph Fiennes the most famous of which is when, in 1992, they walked unaided across Antarctica from coast to coast in the longest unsupported walk in history. They walked 1400 miles without any help, through winds in excess of 100 miles per hour and temperatures which plumbeted to below 50 degrees. On his return in 1993 he was awarded the OBE for Human Endevour and Services to Charity.In 1990 he became involved in full time research investigating endurance fitness, nutrition and the problems that people face when they need to work and survive in extreme conditions. He has now returned full time to medicine, currently working as a surgeon in an NHS hospital. He has also recently written a book called 'Survival of the Fittest'Mike Stroud has such vast and varied experience his speeches are always captivating, motivating and tailored to his audience.
