Martin Lewis is one of Britain’s best-known broadcasters has been a television journalist for 33 years. In May 1999, he left BBC News and founded Global Intercasting, which specialises in advising global companies on how to make the best use of satellite television. Currently he fronts the BBC’s Today’s the Day quiz show, as well as the Medical Channel, a new encrypted digital television service for every GP in the UK. Charitable work also occupies much of Martyn’s time, and he is the Founder and Chairman of YouthNet’s The Site, which offers young people a unique guide to life. Other charitable positions he holds are: President of United Response, and the George Thomas Centre for Hospice Care, and Vice President of the Marie-Curie Cancer Care Trust among many. Martyn is also the author of Tears and Smiles – the Hospice handbook, and Reflections on Success, where he interviews 67 prominent achievers from the Prime Minister to Billy Connolly and Michael Palin. Martyn was awarded a CBE in 1997 for services to young people and the Hospice Movement. A well-respected and familiar speaker, Martyn is a fascinating after-dinner speaker on charitable or youth-related subjects or awards host.
