After Dinner Speakers: Liz Hobbs, Geoff Cooke, The The Glitter Band

Liz already has an impressive list of programming in her wake. It was inserts for YTV's 'Calendar Sport' that led to her own series 'Hobbs Choice' - in which she became the ‘all action’ woman - having a go at everything from dog racing to parachute jumping, just what you’d expect from a former World Water-ski Champion. She was an obvious choice for a series on water, both on and below it and 'Waterfront', transmitted in the late autumn of 1995 is now being considered for the network. Her talents took her into the SKY studios, where she presented 'Sports Saturday', 'Watersports World' and the Freestyle Skiing Championships for Channel 4 were quickly added to her list of credits. Fishing came to feature heavily in Liz’s life both through her family, with her father a keen angler and through her presentation of the first big ‘winner takes all’ angling match for Sky, Fishomania. Such was her popularity with viewers and competitors, through her strong research skills into their strengths, that Liz has been invited to be involved in the programmes 7 hour live presentation every year since. With special fishing features for Yorkshire on Hobbs Choice too! Liz has also contributed regularly to the world of children’s television, taking part in 'Run the Gauntlet' and then presenting the children’s version 'Superchamps' for three series. She also hosted BBC's Children In Need (BBC North). Having completed two successful series of 'Country Challenge' Liz continued to broaden her horizons. Every year she enjoys the thrill of the live audience in Pantomimes having played Princess, in Jack and the Beanstalk at The Bradford Alhambra, Wicked Queen at St. Albans Arena, Maid Marion at Doncaster Dome, Prince Charming andRobin Hood at Lincoln's Theatre Royal and Fairy Godmother at the Palace Theatre in Newark. Liz moved her regular radio show from BBC Radio York to BBC Radio 2 on Saturday mornings. She also presented the holiday programme ‘Attractions’ for Channel 5. Liz was awarded the M.B.E. in recognition of her sporting success, dedication and commitment, qualities she brings to her new roles in both television and radio.
