American Postal worker Lance Armstrong started competing in the tough Tour de France cycle race in 1995, when he won several stages. However in 1996 he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and and was close to death after undergoing surgery and painfull kemo-therapy for many months. Fortunately he made a full recovery and in 1998 he won the Tour de France for the first time. He has since won in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
