John Simpson is the BBC’s Foreign Affairs Editor. He has travelled extensively, winning numerous awards for his amazing journalism. John began his career as a reporter with BBC Radio News in 1970, and then moved to become a BBC correspondent. In 1978 he was appointed as Diplomatic correspondent, and in 1980 as BBC Political Editor, before becoming Diplomatic Editor for six years and Foreign Affairs Editor in 1988. He is also prolific author and has written extensively on his own experiences. His titles include Behind Iranian Lines, Despatches from the Barricades, and The Darkness Crumbles: the Death of Communism. For the Past seven years, john has also been Associate editor of the Spectator, and in 1991 he was awarded the CBE in the Gulf War Honours. John is an intelligent after dinner speaker, and is also hugely in demand for his skills as a chairperson at corporate events.
