Comedian Jimmy Cricket was born in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, into an Irish family of four brothers and one sister, whose father was an undertaker. He left his first job in a betting shop for Butlins where he served a typical apprenticeship. Moving to Manchester, Jimmy worked the Northern Club circuit until appearing on ITV’s Search For A Star and The Royal Gala Show. A regular on television, Jimmy had his own radio series Jimmy’s Cricket Team, for BBC Radio 2. His clean Irish humour is often relished as a refreshing change from more earthy acts and Jimmy Cricket retains his popularity as a true family comedy entertainer.
