Actor, musician. Born October 22, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Goldblum began his stage training at the age of 17 at New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse and within a year had made his debut on Broadway in a musical version of Two Gentlemen of Verona. His film debut came with a small part in Death Wish in 1974, but he didn't gain critical recognition until his performance as a tabloid magazine reporter in The Big Chill in 1983. Since then, Goldblum has become well known for playing eccentric, intellectual types in science-fiction films, including The Fly (1986), Earth Girls Are Easy (1989), Jurassic Park and its sequels (1993, 1997) and Independence Day (1996). Goldblum was married to actress Patricia Gaul in the early 1980s. He met his second wife, actress Geena Davis, while they were on the set of the comedy-thriller Transylvania in 1985. The couple divorced in 1990 and Goldblum then embarked on a highly publicized relationship with actress Laura Dern that broke up in 1996.
