The former Leeds and England defender is widely known as 'Big Jack', while in Ireland he is referred to as 'Saint Jack' after his success manageing the national team. In his playing career Jack gained 35 international caps and was a member of the 1966 World Cup winning team. In his 21 years at Leeds United he made 629 appearances scoring 70 league goals and was voted Footballer of the Year in 1967.In his managerial career he took Middlesborough to the top of the Second Division in 1974, winning the Championship but his major achievment was taking Ireland to the quarter final stage of the 1990 World Cup before being beaten by the host nation Italy.
