After Dinner Speakers: Dermot Murnaghan, Shakatak, Natasha Kaplinski

Dermot Murnaghan has come a long way since his early days in television as a researcher on a Channel 4 business programme in 1984. Taking on a new role as front man on the BBC's Breakfast News has brought his career full circle having first came to prominence presenting Channel 4 Daily, the predecessor to The Big Breakfast. Murnaghan suffered a personal blow when ITN's 11pm news was axed to make way for the return of News At Ten, with Sir Trevor McDonald in the number one slot. Dermots authoritative and knowledgeable style contrasts well with that softer more airy delivery shown by his presentation partner Natasha Kaplinski. An experienced presenter who is quick witted and a sharp interrogator, Dermot Murnaghan moves effortlessly to the live presentation arena.
