Actor and director, born in New York City. He studied theatre and speech at Northwestern University, then co-founded Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company, where he has directed a number of productions. He played several small roles in television series, eventually becoming well known for his role as Ross Geller in the acclaimed television series Friends (1994-- ). Roles in feature films include Crossing the Bridge (1992 and The Pallbearer (1996).
