After Dinner Speakers: David Dimbleby, Barry Gibbons, Gene Krantz

The words Dimbleby and political TV are as inseparable as Jeremy Clarkson and testosterone. The son of perhaps the most famous broadcaster in the history of television - the gravitas-laden Richard Dimbleby - David joined the BBC in the early 1960s after a distinguished career at Oxford. After a stint as news reporter in Bristol he went on to present ‘Panorama’, ‘This Week Next Week’ and a host of other high-quality programmes. He has anchored BBC coverage of general elections since 1979. In 1994 he fought, and won, a surprisingly tough battle with the famously combative Jeremy Paxman for BBC1's ‘Question Time’. His equally accomplished younger brother Jonathan, presents BBC Radio 4's ‘Any Questions’ amongst other programmes. However his role as presenter of ‘Question Time’, building on the authority and approachability of his predecessors, Sir Robin Day and Peter Sissons, has established him as the most respected political broadcaster of his generation. David Dimbleby is constantly in demand as a conference host and speaker. His presence lends weight and enhances the stature of every event he attends.
