David Bellamy began his career as a lecturer in botany at Durham University in 1960. During that year he also studied the biodiversity of tropical rain forests, and as a result of finding people dying of starvation he became an environmental campaigner.David is an academic, author and broadcaster. He has made countless television programmes such as 'Buzz of Biodiversity' and 'Blooming Bellamy', and he has written numerous books such as 'Tomorrow's Earth' and 'England's Lost Wilderness'. David is also a member of several comitees and societies, and he is a fellow of the Institute of Environmental Science.David describes himself as an itinerent botanist. He is an excellent speaker on environmental issues who is reknowned for his passionate and enthusiastic manner.
