After Dinner Speakers: Danny Rampling, Kiri Te Kanawa, Kathleen Turner

London born Danny Rampling's love for music began at an early age. Growing up listening to the pop icons of the 70's, his record collection developed rapidly and is reflected in the variety of music that Danny Rampling plays today. Danny Rampling's first sojurn into DJing came when he found himself spinning alongside Kiss FM founder Gordon Mac, where Danny Rampling discovered there was a niche for his personal style, a weekly show on the pirate station Kiss followed. Inspired, Danny Rampling ventured out to the great Ibizan clubs of the 80's where he discovered the intoxicating Balaeric sound of the sunny, Spanish island and brought it back to the UK. Danny and his soon-to-be wife Jenni launched the "Shoom" club in 1987 and introduced this innovative feel to a new generation of clubbers. Taking thier inspiration from "Shoom", fellow club runners soon followed suit and successful clubs were appearing all over the UK. Danny Rampling, who joined Radio 1 in November 1994 from Kiss FM, is hailed as one of the worlds hottest DJ's but is humble of his achievements and the respect he commands.
