After Dinner Speakers: Charlotte Church, David Dickinson, Tom Cruise

The child star who is growing up and wants to shed the tag Voice Of An Angel. Charlotte's big break came in 1997 when she stole the show on a TV talent show where she was supposed to be introducing her aunt. A few bars of Pie Jesu later and the 11-year-old became one of the hottest properties in music. She became the youngest-ever artist to top the classical chart following the release of her debut album Voice Of An Angel in 1998. Soon she was flying all over the world singing for royalty, presidents and the Pope. But as the child star became a teenager, she spoke of her yearning to follow a more pop direction. While still releasing classical albums, Charlotte has broadened her horizons. She recorded a duet with Wyclef Jean and appearing with the likes of Atomic Kitten, Steps and A1 at Showtime @ the Stadium in Cardiff. Most recently she scored a chart hit with The Opera Song, a cheesy dance tune in collaboration with Jurgen Vries. Growing up in the public eye hasn't been easy for Charlotte, with intense media interest in her personal and professional life, resulting in reports of tantrums and disagreements with her family. It remains to be seen whether Charlotte Church becomes a down-to-earth diva in the mould of Lesley Garrett or heads for even greater showbiz stardom.
