After Dinner Speakers: Angus Deayton, Robert Youngjohns, Chris de Burgh
Angus Deayton is best known for his role as host of the ever-popular topical quiz show ‘Have I Got News For You’, where he exercises his dry wit alongside team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. He has also graced our screens as a comedy actor with regular appearances as the stooge in ‘Mr Bean’ with Rowan Atkinson and a brilliantly executed role as Patrick, the long-suffering next-door neighbour of Victor Meldrew in ‘One Foot In The Grave’. Before he reached household name status, Angus worked as a comedy writer for the Dick Emery Show and was also a prolific writer of radio comedy, contributing to the ‘Lenny Henry Show’ and ‘OTT’ on Radio 2 amongst others as well as acting as film critic for Capital Radio. He cut his teeth as a performer on ‘Tiswas’ and later worked with Alexei Sayle on ‘Alexei Sayle’s Stuff’ before co-writing and performing on ‘KYTV’.
With this raft of experience from his long and varied career and having picked up several BBC Comedy, BAFTA, TRIC and British Press Guild Awards along the way, Angus Deayton is one of the funniest and most popular speakers on the circuit today.
