Andrew Marr, the BBC's Political Editor, was born in 1959 in Glasgow; he attended Dundee High School, Craigflower School in Fife, and Loretto School, Musselburgh. He then gained a BA in English from Trinity Hall, Cambridge. His journey to the BBC top correspondents job in May 2000 came via The Scotsman, The Independent, The Economist, The Express and The Observer. Andrew has had three books published: The Battle for Scotland; Ruling Britannia and The Day Britain Died. Broadcasting includes series on contemporary thinkers for BBC Two and Radio Four, and political documentaries for Channel 4 and BBC Panorama. A consistent winner of numerous journalistic awards he remains a foremost presenter possessing a unique balance of gravity and wit.
