Trevor McDonald is the presenter of ITV’s Evening News, having previously presented the News at Ten from1990 – 1999, first as a co-presenter, then as a sole presenter. He also hosts his own chat show “Trevor McDonald meets…” on ITV2. Trevor has received many awards throughout his career, including, a knighthood in the Queens Birthday Honours list for 1999, and an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List in 1992. In May 1999 he received the Richard Dimbleby Award for Outstanding Contribution to Television from BAFTA, and Newscaster of the Year for the third time in1999. Having begun his career in current affairs, beginning as a presenter in his native Trinidad in 1962, one of his most memorable reports was on Nelson Mandela’s release from prison, and the first British interview with him for ITN. Not just a presenter, Trevor has also written biographies of west Indian cricketers - Viv Richards and Clive Lloyd - whilst co-writing The Queen and The Commonwealth. Years of TV experience make Trevor an unforgettable awards host and after dinner speaker on current affairs and general knowledge.
