Tim Berners-Lee is the inventor of the World Wide Web. Now with the Laboratory for Computer Science at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, he directs the W3 consortium - an open forum of companies and organisations whose objectives are to realise the potential of the Web. Having graduated from Oxford university, Tim started work on CERN, to work on scientific data acquisition and system control in 1989, and then proposed the idea that was to be known as the World Wide Web. In 1995 this won him the Kilby Foundation’s “Young Innovator of the Year Award”. As one of the most sought-after speakers on the Internet, his subjects include, The Web: directions and Impact, History of the World Wide Web, and Creativity in Cyberspace.
