After Dinner Speakers: Tess Daly, David Schwimmer, Robert Lacey
Tess can currently be seen waking up the nation on ITV1’s favourite Saturday morning show SM:tv. One of Stockport’s most treasured exports has made quite a name for herself since giving up the world of modelling to concentrate on presenting. A popular choice with all the broadcasters, Tess has recently presented The Dancestar Awards for MTV, Exclusive for Channel Five and LA Pool Party for the BBC. While for ITV1 Tess presented the daytime heats for Britain’s Brainiest Kids and The Clothes Show, and the live coverage of The National TV Awards for ITV2.
Tess’s first presenting break came in 1999 when she spent six weeks scouring the country for The Big Breakfast’s Find Me A Model Competition. Since then she hasn’t looked back and stints on The Phone Zone for BBC UK Play and The Mix for ITV led to her presenting Singled Out for Channel Five/MTV, Surf Trip for Channel Four and Smash Hits TV for Sky One.
Tess gained nine O’Levels before being spotted by Models One. She went on to achieve great modelling success, having graced the cover of over ten magazines. This brought fantastic travelling opportunities and for a while Tess settled in Madrid, Tokyo, Paris, Barcelona and New York. While travelling the world Tess immersed herself in the varying peoples and cultures, hanging out with tribe folk in Northern Thailand, riding camels in the deserts of Morocco and staying in remote Japanese villages. While in New York she made a documentary Brit’s Abroad where Tess interviewed various luminaries including the quintessential Brit abroad Quentin Crisp. Tess loves to write and has been published by Paper Magazine. She has danced her way through numerous pop videos for artistes ranging from Duran Duran, Soul II Soul to The Beloved.
Endlessly fascinated by life, living, people and culture, Tess makes a conscious effort to make the best of all possible things. Chocolate, music, reading, sunshine, friends, driving, cycling, champagne, shopping (sweetie), eating and having loads of laughs make her world turn.
