Sergio is born on January 9th, 1980 at Castellon in Spain. He is 20 years old. He has played golf since the age of three. He became club champion at the age of 12. When he was 14, he became the youngest player ever to make the cut on the european tour. After a tremendous success as an amateur (he won 19 events, including a professional, the Catalonian open) and being the best amateur at the Masters tournament 1999 (the first european to win this title), he turned professional on April 21st, 1999. Since this, he won the Irish open (in his sixth start as a pro!) and finished second the next week at Loch Lomond. After the disaster of Carnoustie (he played 89 the first day, then 83 the second, to finish last at +30), he came back strong and battled with Tiger Woods for the PGA Championship. He has a phenomenal record in match play: 32 victories and only one defeat. "El nino" likes computer games, his favorite is Tiger Woods' golf game, and his interests also include Real Madrid FC, a soccer (or football) team. He lives in Borriol, Spain.
