Ray Winstone was born in London and started his career as a boxer and represented England on two occasions. Ray first came to the public's attention as an actor in the landmark film "Scum" in which he played the lead, hard man 'Carlin'. Since then Ray has appeared in films such as "Quadrophenia", "Face" with Robert Carlyle, "Nil by Mouth" for which he was nominated as Best Actor at the 1998 BAFTA Awards, "The War Zone" directed by Tim Roth for which he was nominated as Best Actor at the 1999 European Film Awards. "Fanny & Elvis" in which Ray stars opposite Kerry Fox and "Sexy Beast" opposite Ben Kingsley for Fox/Film Four and "Last Orders" for Scala films opposite Michael Caine and Bob Hoskins. Television credits include The multi award winning "Births, Marriages and Deaths" by Tony Grounds which won Best Drama at the Broadcast 2000 Awards and was nominated as Best Serial at the 2000 BAFTA Television Awards; "Our Boy", opposite Pauline Quirk, for which he won the Royal Television Society's Best Actor Award, "Get Back" a sit com for the BBC, "Macbeth on the Estate" in which he played 'King Duncan' and "Tough Love" for Granada Television. Theatre Credits include "Dealers Choice" at the Royal National Theatre and "Pale Horse" at the Royal Court Theatre.
