After Dinner Speakers: Neil Kinnock, The Weather Girls, Ernie Shavers

Neil Kinnock was Labour leader from 1983 to 1992 and was the primary mover of change from old to new Labour, which has now become so all conquering under the Tony Blair leadership. Neil Kinnock reversed a conservative landslide in 1983, to a narrow and surprise defeat in 1992. After that disappointment he resigned to be succeeded by John Smith and moved to Europe to take up a civil service career as a European Commissioner with responsibility for transport throughout the community. Neil Kinnocks reforms of the labour party characterise a steely determination to do right, his speech criticising the Liverpool Loony Left of Derek Hatton remain a seminal moment in modern political history. As a brilliant orator and speaker, Neil brings that charismatic delivery to bear in magnificent style.
