Max Hastings is an extremely successful author, journalist and broadcaster. Currently the Editor of the Evening Standard (1976 – 1977), other positions he has held are Editor of the Evening Standard’s London Diary and the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Telegraph (1991 – 1995. He has also written several books, including The Fire this Time (1968), The Struggle for Civil Rights in Northern Ireland (1970), and The King’s Champion (1976). His novel Bomber Command received The Somerset Maughan Prize, while The Battle for the Falklands won the Yorkshire Post book of the Year Prize. A hugely experienced and well respected man, Max Hastings is a very knowledgeable after dinner speaker or literary awards host.
