After Dinner Speakers: Malandra Burrows, The Gipsy Kings, Peter Mandelson

Born in Liverpool in 1965, Malandra Burrows has for 16 years been the nations soap sweetheart. As Emmerdale’s Kathy Glover, Malandra Burrows has married three times, been widowed twice, suffered a miscarriage, been held hostage and fallen into a coma. No wonder the character Kathy eventually had a nervous breakdown. Eventually released from the series in 2002 after many high points including a top ten hit with Just This Side of love, Malandra signed a record contract and had further commercial successes with Carnival in Heaven and Don’t Leave Me.
