Lord Kingsdown was Chairman of the National Westminster Bank from 1977 to 1983 and Governor of the Bank of England from 1983 to 1993. He has been Lord Lieutenant of the county of Kent since 1983, was made a peer in 1993 and a Knight of the Garter in 1994. He has been interested in cricket all his life and maintains a ground for club games at his house, Torry Hill, near Sittingbourne. He has been a member of the Kent CCC all his life and last year received the honour of Honorary Life Membership. In 2002 he became the club President. Lord Kingsdown offers interesting views of economics, business and cricket and is a most interesting speaker.
