Lawrence S. Eagleburger is a career civil servant who served in the diplomatic corps and federal government for over 30 years. He has received many of the nation’s highest honors and awards, and been knighted by Queen Elisabeth II. The range of his foreign affairs experience is vast -- from his postings to embassies in Honduras and Yugoslavia -- to high-ranking posts in the departments of Defense and State -- and spans several administrations, both Republican and Democrat. (He was U.S. Ambassador to Yugoslavia during the Carter and Reagan administrations.) He has served on the boards of major U.S. corporations. He is currently the chairman of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims, in Washington, D.C.
