James Naughtie joined the Today team in 1994. Prior to this he presented The World at One and The Week in Westminster as well as making a number of documentaries for radio. He also presents Bookclub. His career as a journalist began in 1975 after attending Aberdeen University and Syracuse University, New York. He worked on newspapers for over a decade, from the Aberdeen Press & Journal and The Scotsman to the Washington Post and The Guardian. In 1991 he was the Sony Award Personality of the Year. A distinctive speaker with much to say on politics, current affairs and business.
