After Dinner Speakers: Jacques Delors, Courtney Pine, David Jason
Jacques Delors was born in Paris on July 20, 1925 and has been one of Europe’s pre-eminent socialists, once described as the architect of Europe.
After a successful ministerial career in French government he was elected to the European parliament in 1979 where he served as Finance Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Economic and Monetary Affairs.
In 1984 he became President of European Commission and from there the architect of the Maastrict Treaty.
Much maligned in The United Kingdom and reputedly hated by Margaret Thatcher, Delors maintains his federalist ideals.
An enormously interesting speaker with a unique perspective on recent European and World history.
