Harry Enfield is one of Britain’s best-loved comedy stars. He has created a huge raft of comedy characters, which have become household names in their own right – from early characters such as Loadsamoney to newer creations like Tim Nice-But-Dim.
Harry’s dulcet tones brought him his first appearance on TV in when he brilliantly voiced some of the characters in Spitting Image. It was in 1986 though when he began to build up a following with appearances on Channel 4’s Saturday Night Live as Loadsamoney. In 1990 he got his own show, ‘Harry Enfield’s Television Programme’ which ran to two series, and later evolved into ‘Harry Enfield and Chums’ which also had two seasons in ’94 and ‘96. His lovable character creations along with Paul Whitehouse and Kathy Burke have become a British Institution – think of the Old Gits, the Slobs, Smashie and Nicey and Ted and Ralph – several of whom have had their own spin-off special programmes and all of whom have gained him many awards. In between series Harry has found time to make a series about his great passion, ‘Harry Enfield’s Guide To Opera’, as well as continuing to voice many commercials and TV programmes, including voicing the part of Robbie in ‘Robbie The Reindeer – Hooves Of Fire’
In 1999 Harry co-wrote and starred in his first movie ‘Kevin and Perry Go Large!’ and in 2001 he returned with a new series for Sky One, ‘Harry Enfield’s Brand Spanking New Show’. As ever, the nation is poised to see what he will come up with next and in the meantime he is constantly in demand for personal appearances.
