After Dinner Speakers: Glenn Hoddle, Bill Giles, Lord David Steel

As a player Glen Hoddle was the darling of English football, a unique talent, winner of FA and UEFA Cup honours, international star and scorer of some of the most fabulous goals in English football history. Finishing playing in 1990 after gaining league success under Arsne Wenger at Monaco, Hoddle moved successfully into management. Glen built a solid reputation as a coach at Swindon and moved onwards to Chelsea, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur where he had been adored as a player for twelve years. As England coach he succeeded in qualification for the 1998 World Cup in France, only loosing out to Argentina in a game that saw the notorious sending off of David Beckham. A devout Christian, Glens beliefs and management style has occasionally ruffled sensitive feathers, he remains though, a true icon of English football style and talent.
