Georgios Doukidis is a Professor of Information Systems at the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds an MSc (1981) and a PhD (1985) from the London School of Economics, where he taught as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor for six years in the Information Systems Department. Since 1995 he has been a visiting Professor at Brunel University (UK). He teaches and researches in the areas of eCommerce, Management of Information Systems and Decision Support Systems and is widely regarded as an expert in these fields.
He has published 12 books (including "Information Systems in a National Context: the case of Greece", Avebury Publishers, 1995), more than 100 papers, and is a member of the editorial board of 5 leading international scientific journals. By invitation, he has given presentations in 21 countries.
Since 1991, Doukidis has been the Director of the eBusiness Centre of AUEB (called eLTRUN), which has completed successfully more than 40 innovative projects, some of them financed by the European Commission and various international organizations and companies (including NOKIA, Oracle, SEMA, Unisys, Sonera, P&G etc.). His centre specialises in the areas of digital marketing, knowledge management and process improvement, digital economy and socioeconomic impact, enterprise systems, and emerging eCommerce technologies (mobile, digital TV). The group currently collaborates with 25 leading European organizations in 6 European-wide project initiatives.
Doukidis acts as advisor to the Greek Ministry of Trade and Industry on eCommerce and has worked closely on the same topic with DGIII of the European Commission. Professor Doukidis is a leader in the field of eCommerce and eBusiness and is a highly respected and authoritative speaker, constantly in demand to give keynote presentations.
