After Dinner Speakers: Fern Britton, Sue Barker, Leonardo di Caprio
Fern Britton is one of Britain's best-loved presenters on television today and has just returned to our screens, as the regular presenter on ITV’s ‘This Morning’.
Last year she presented a new series for BBC1 ‘Danger, Celebrity at Work’ for which she was also required to spend a day working in and around Brighton as a motorcycle courier and she also presented a pilot series for ITV called DIY Disasters for which she trawled the country trying to find the worst so-called DIY expert!
Probably best well known for her role as the Presenter of BBC2's top rated and award winning Ready Steady Cook Fern presented more than 1,000 shows over the past four years and created a cult following amongst the accumulative audience of 16 million who watch throughout the week. She also presented the ratings winner Celebrity Ready Steady Cook for BBC1.
Fern started her broadcasting career with the BBC as a senior presenter with Spotlight South West moving quickly to BBC1's News Afternoon as the then BBC's youngest ever-national news presenter. She later became a Senior Presenter with TVS hosting Coast to Coast; Coast to Coast People and Magic Moments and presented The Gloria Hunniford Show on BBC Radio Two in 1989.
Fern is well versed in live reporting down the line, on location and in studio having gained her extensive experience whilst working across the network as a presenter on Carlton Television's After Five, BBC's Breakfast Time, GMTV's Top Of The Morning, as Entertainment Correspondent of London News Network's London Tonight, and as a guest reporter for BBC1’s Holiday.
March 1998 saw the launch of her first book, ‘Fern’s Family Favourites’ (Andre Deutsch) written with cook and home economist Susie Magasiner. The book is a collection of 60 of her favourite recipes and tips on preparing food for the busiest of cooks! October 1999 saw the release of her second book Winter Treats and Summer Delights (Andre Deutsch).
Married to Phil Vickery, they live in Buckinghamshire with Fern's eight year old twin boys and five year-old girl, and new addition, baby Winnie. Having passed her motorbike test she can regularly be spotted around town on her Honda 500cc!
