BERNIE CLIFTON in a class of his own, making his television debut in 1971 on, aptly, BBC television’s Good Old Days, followed by appearances on The Comedians, Crackerjack, interspersed with tours of theatres and cabaret in Britain and Australia. During this time he developed a unique act and comedy style, using zany props and crazy visual effects – it was during this point that Oswald the intrepid ostrich arrived on the scene! In 1979 Bernie appeared in The Royal Variety Show, which led to his own special Bernie Clifton on Stage. Bernie hosted his own BBC Radio series, Bernie Clifton’s Comedy Store, as well as travelling throughout Britain compering the series Three In A Row. Bernie is a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats and raises money for many worthy causes. He was recently the subject of the BBC2 series The Entertainers.
