Bernard Gallacher OBE began playing golf at the age of 11 and after a short amateur career, turned professional in 1967 aged 18. He soon became the then youngest winner of the Vardon Trophy (PGA European Tour) at just 20 years old and in the same year became the youngest player to represent the Ireland or Britain in the Ryder Cup event. He is the winner of 21 world titles including the Spanish Open (1977) and the French Open (1979). He competed in 8 Ryder Cup teams before becoming the captain in 1991, 1993 and 1995 when he led Europe to victory. He is a five- time member of the World Cup of Golf and a member of the board of directors in the European Tour. He is also the former president of the Golf Foundation Council who he still works closely with. He had an extremely successful career with the Wentworth Golf Club playing at both tour and club levels. He is now retired as a professional Golfer but is the captain of the club. He has recently begun a career in senior's golf and is fully expecting to have further success in the future.
