After Dinner Speakers: Anthony Clare, Gareth Edwards, Ronnie Corbett
Professor Anthony W Clare MD was born on Christmas Eve 1942; he went to a Jesuit school and then on to study medicine at University College, Dublin. He pursued his studies as a psychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital and St Bartholomew's. He is currently Medical Director at St Patrick's Psychiatric Hospital and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Trinity College, Dublin. As well as many academic papers and books, including Psychiatry in Descent and Let's Talk About Me, in 1993 he wrote a best-selling book Depression And How to Survive It with Spike Milligan.
Anthony Clare is best known as a broadcaster for Radio 4's In the Psychiatrist's Chair, which he has presented since 1982. He was also a long- term contributor to Stop the Week. Other Radio 4 work includes the long-running series All in the Mind, and a more recent series Men in Crisis
