After Dinner Speakers: Alan Sugar, Robert Ballard, Per Lindstrand

Alan Sugar took Amstrad from nothing to the FTSE 100 and then saw its share price collapse, Remaining as chairman with the diversified Viglen Technologies whilst the rest of Amstrad became Betacom. During the 1980s and 1990s Alan Sugar presided over Amstrads extraordinary growth amongst the burgeoning electronics and communications industry. At its height, Sugar was able to buy a majority shareholding in Tottenham plc, believing that he would be able to change the North London football club into a league winning side to compete with Manchester United and North London rivals, Arsenal. Perhaps a greater achievement has been Alan’s charitable work through his foundation. Alan Sugar has been a high profile entrepreneur and a low-key philanthropist, but always a hard working perfectionist.
